Consumer Acceptability and Sensory Profile of Sustainable Paper-Based Packaging

Sustainability appears to be increasingly important consumers. In order for companies reach their sustainability targets and offer more environmentally friendly solutions consumers, food producers retailers have begun change packaging recyclable, bio-based biodegradable packaging. This study evaluated the sensory characteristics of paper-based prototype packages developed two product categories (biscuit meat packages) using a trained panel. Consumer liking, preference purchase intent were assessed by 130 participants. For biscuit packages, no significant differences observed liking any four dimensions (appearance, design, feel or overall liking). However, consumer segmentation identified three relatively homogeneous groups consumers exhibiting in hedonic reaction packages. between original both categories, was low, indicating that further work needed done improve several quality (e.g., size strength package), which would lead better acceptability.
